Experience

Where I’ve worked, and what I actually built. More detail here than fits on a resume.

Sep 2021 – Present

La Jolla, CA (Remote)

Xendee

Full Stack Software Engineer

I build the platform power engineers and investors use to design, optimize, and financially model microgrids, the tools that decide whether a real clean-energy project gets built.

  • Full-stack across a C#/.NET and SQL Server backend and a React/Vue (JavaScript/TypeScript) front end, from schema design to production.
  • Onboarded a wide range of energy technologies into the simulation platform, each with its own engineering and economic model: EV charging, hydro, wave, generators, gas turbines, solar thermal, absorption chillers, electrolyzers, methanizers, and hydrogen storage, expanding what customers can design.
  • Work in the correctness-critical core: optimization inputs, financial calculations, and a multi-tenant licensing/permission system that gates features across organizations and plans, where a subtle bug costs real money.
  • Built internal reporting and analytics (technology, financing, optimization-engine, and API usage, plus project/team/user metrics) that the team uses to steer the roadmap.

Sep 2020 – Aug 2021

Orange County, CA (On-site)

FenceScreen, Inc.

Full Stack Software Engineer

On a team of three, I built and ran the e-commerce platform for the largest wholesale fencing and scaffolding seller in the US, serving both B2B and B2C.

  • End to end across the stack: checkout and payments, product catalog, order management, inventory, and back-office tools.
  • Replaced a manual quoting process with automated wholesale quoting, including volume-based price scaling for large orders.
  • Integrated the storefront with the manufacturing ecosystem, streamlining order handoff and pacing throughput so manufacturing could keep up at peak.
  • Built a price-benchmarking tool that tracked competitor pricing to position the company’s models against the market.

Sep 2019 – Aug 2020

Greater San Diego Area (On-site)

Fortis (formerly Payment Logistics)

Full Stack Software Engineer

Full-stack work on enterprise payment products.

  • Built PAYLINK, a touchless payment app created during COVID so restaurants could take payment on mobile POS devices without contact: extended the existing payment API with new endpoints and built a mobile-friendly single-page app.
  • Integrated Stripe for PAYLINK devices and the company’s SaaS products, handling the live payment-processing path.
  • Introduced API test automation to a QA team that had been testing everything manually.

Jan 2018 – Sep 2019

Greater San Diego Area (On-site)

Shift4 (formerly The Customer Connection)

Full Stack Software Engineer

On a team of four, I built web applications and branded websites for restaurants and their customers.

  • Built hundreds of branded client websites, each matched to the client’s existing styling.
  • Certified sites to WCAG 2 accessibility standards so users with disabilities could fully navigate them.
  • Introduced modern practices to a long-tenured team: git version control, Kanban, and Bootstrap.
  • Wore multiple hats, supporting the Sales and Integrations teams with engineering help.

Nov 2015 – Jan 2018

Greater San Diego Area (On-site)

MeetingSense

Junior Software Engineer

Where it started, and where the testing discipline comes from.

  • Started in QA automation: led the shift from manual testing to an automated suite using C# unit tests and Selenium WebDriver, and built an automated regression framework.
  • Promoted into development: built a C# API and an Angular single-page app.
